About Couples Therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a structured approach to therapy based on attachment theory. EFT helps partners work together to recognize the automatic cycles of conflict that arise from hurt and misunderstanding, and that interfere with each partner's ability to trust the other. EFT supports couples in developing new and effective ways to communicate, listen to one another , understand eachother's feelings and meet each others’ needs. With increased security and emotional safety, partners  reconnect and renew the vitality, connection, and intimacy in their relationship.

A substantial body of research outlining the effectiveness of EFT is available on the EFT websites (www.ncceft.com or www.iceeft.com).
